MP3 is bandwidth hazard....do something new

I went to cheapass gamer, IGN, Gamespot, and Whitehouse.gov and they all have like 64 kbps *.mp3 files which is pretty pissing me off. Listen, I have a reallly bad connection and why not free AAC, because FAAC is free! Why not use it? You can get it down to 24 kbps. For example, if I were to download Cheapass gamer CAGcast, it would be 48 MB! If that was 1 hour long, it would be at 80 kbps or 30 minutes at 160 kbps.
